This could be a very essential tool for DVR purposes. I think the biggest improvement would be to engineer it for multi wakeup events with a single screen to view all that are enabled. I don\'t like having an entry in the systray for each event.I would also like some info on how to get around the User Access Control in Vista. If the pc is rebooted, often it marks each entry & keeps it from running until I specifically enable it.

I think it is a great idea. Unfortunately not simple enough for my needs: a small non resident utility to remote boot a remote PC on demand.Good tool though.

(missing a very important feature) Hello; You need to have a timer, so that I can shutdown, hibernate, etc... at a certain time, or in a certain amount of time. i.e: - hibernate at 3:00 am; - shutdown in 2 hours 35 minutes. ... etc. Otherwise, the utility is of no use to me at all. bugs after the great beginning Originally I need a program to allow me to hibernate my system by pressing a hotkey combination. DirectShutdown seemed to be the goal, but after starting it came the negative surprise: I cannot uncheck the comfirmation option ("Confirm Hibernate") and I even cannot change the key combination: I select the letter "A" f.e., but it changes back to "H". Of course it would not be a problem, but I definitely do not need any confirmation, after pushing (the default) combination it should hibernate my system immediately...

Direct Shutdown review I gave this a good review as if it had worked. In my case, it didn't work as it should. I had to end up using System Restore to get rid of it. The two times I tried to use it, I ended up with a blue screen. The second time I couldn't get it restarted and had to restore. I have to assume that it is my configuration causing the problem. I downloaded some shortcuts and the restart worked but coming out of hibernation, the USB mouse wouldn't work.

My Experience with AutoShutdown Genius It works well on XP. I am still having issues on Vista. I am working with LonKing support and they have been very responsive. If you need to ensure that systems are shut down, this is it!

A bit user-unfriendly in that it doesn't have a very clear, easy UI but a very good idea.

Awesome. Easy to use and is all that I needed. Shuts down per time per day and has easy to set rules as when not to shut down.

It does the job ShutDownOnTime is 'Good' as it does the basics and is simple to use. It could be better if more sophisticated management of the shutdown, hibernate, standby and reboot were available. There is still some things I am trying out on the application but I think I have reached its limit.

Won`t work with printer I purchased Shut Down Expert for the "hibernates/awakens" feature. However, after the computer awakens my deskjet D1320 printer will not work. Prior to installing SDE, the printer worked fine. I must restart the computer for the printer to work after hibernation. SDE tech support says that it's the printer driver. HP printer support, after extensive trouble shooting, said to uninstall SDE, that the SDE software was the cause of the problem since the printer works fine without it installed. So, I'm left with the "shut down/restart" option if I continue to use SDE. I'm not a satisfied customer ...

Thank you for autoshutdown, but it did not perform well with Vista. Ultimately I found a small program call shutdown.exe (a windows item) it worked well functioned within batch files, and I was able to use it within task scheduler. Even though your autoshutdown did not work well for me it did put me on the right track. So thank you for your part in helping me solve my problem. Sy OlivenTucson, AZ
